A statement of attainment, a digital card & a physical card will be issued upon the successful completion of both the theory and practical components. All participants will need to meet the entry requirements before completion.

A new photograph will also be taken on the day for the sole purpose to produce your printed licence

Evidence of your Statement of Attainment for your CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry or its equivalent unit as per the entry requirements. This statement of attainment can be found by contacting the issuing RTO who delivered the initial training. A copy of the white card is not accepted as valid evidence. Alternatively you can provide a valid current copy of your USI transcript which shows you have completed that unit - this can be found at https://www.usi.gov.au/students/find-your-usi

Your own lunch & drinking water

Please remember to dress in a manner that is respectful and appropriate for training and ensure you wear suitable footwear eg: enclosed safety shoes or steel capped boots, especially when engaging in any practical activities in an outdoor setting. Bring a raincoat, hat, glasses if required, hi-vis long sleeves, long pants and be prepared for varying weather onsite. It is advisable to bring extra warm clothing in the winter months.

As per our WHS practices we require you to complete daily sign on sheets, enrolment forms and an ID form which we will provide onsite with all theory paperwork for the course

TC1 RIISS00058 - Traffic Controller Skill Set for Urban Streets and Low Volume Rural Roads; and

RIICOM201E - Communicate in the workplace
RIIWHS205E - Control traffic with stop-slow bat
RIIWHS206 - Control traffic with portable traffic control devices and temporary traffic signs
Description
This skill set addresses the skills and knowledge required for those responsible for traffic control on Temporary Traffic Management Category 1 environments as described in the Austroads Guide to Temporary Traffic Management.
Pathways information
The units provide credit towards a number of Certificate II and Certificate III qualifications in the RII Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package and other training packages, such as RII30920 Certificate III in Civil Construction or equivalent.
Entry requirement
An individual wishing to enrol in this skill set must hold the unit CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry or its equivalent unit CPCCWHS1001.
Licensing/regulatory information
This skill set has been created to align to the requirements of individuals responsible for traffic control in temporary traffic management, as described in the Austroads Guide to Temporary Traffic Management Category 1 environments. Licensing, legislative and certification requirements that apply to this skill set can vary between states, territories and industry sectors. Users must check requirements with relevant body before applying the skill set.
Skill set requirements
Successful completion of the following three units of competency inclusive of at least 20 hours practical experience applying the relevant skills and knowledge in a temporary traffic management workplace:
* RIICOM201E Communicate in the workplace
* RIIWHS205E Control traffic with stop-slow bat
* RIIWHS206 Control traffic with portable traffic control devices and temporary traffic signs.
The assessment for the units of competency comprises both theoretical and practical components. The practical assessment component is to be undertaken after the practical experience is gained. Practical experience requirements must be completed on declared Temporary Traffic Management Category 1 roads within at least six months of successfully completing the theoretical component.

This skill set is for individuals responsible for traffic control in temporary traffic management on Temporary Traffic Management Category 1 roads.

Additional Entry Requirements
Participants will also need to undertake an Language, Literacy & Numeracy [LLN] assessment.

Recognition of Prior Learning [RPL]
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) involves an assessment of your knowledge and experience of your previous and current skills, and compares them to the requirements of an Austroads Temporary Traffic Management
Training program (skill set). If you can demonstrate that you have already gained the equivalent skills and knowledge, and that skill and knowledge is current, then you may be granted recognition of prior learning for an
Austroads Temporary Traffic Management Training program (skill set).
The evidence you provide may include knowledge, experience and skills gained through part-time, full-time or casual work. There is also a local VIC theory component that needs to be completed to be eligible for the RPL.
