All participants will need to meet the entry requirements before enrolment.
A statement of attainment will be issued by the RTO and a digital card will be issued directly by Austroads upon the successful completion of both the theory and practical components. Student Requirements

Applicants must have the ability to read, write, speak and understand English and undertake an LLN (Language, Literacy & Numeracy) Assessment prior to starting the theory component

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of enrolment

Reaccreditation is required every 3 years
-
Bring your own PPE (including steel capped boots, broad brimmed hat, eye protection, gloves, long pants and high visibility shirt or vest or jacket).
Provide the following items PRIOR to your course start date to validate your enrolment:

Evidence of completion of TC1 & TMI1 on Category 1 roads MUST be provided prior to confirming enrolment and class attendance as per the entry requirements. This information cannot be presented as a walk-in on the day of enrolment. Please contact the trainer Rav Prasad 0419 006 292 for additional guidance on what to provide.

Please remember to dress in a manner that is respectful and appropriate for training and ensure you wear suitable footwear eg: enclosed safety shoes or steel capped boots, especially when engaging in any practical activities in an outdoor setting. Bring a raincoat, hat, glasses if required, hi-vis long sleeves, long pants and be prepared for varying weather onsite. It is advisable to bring extra warm clothing in the winter months.

As per our WHS practices we require you to complete daily sign on sheets, enrolment forms and an ID form which we will provide onsite with all theory paperwork for the course

TC2 RIISS00059 - Traffic Controller Skill Set for High Volume Roads; and
Covers the following units of competency
RIIWHS207 - Control traffic on high volume roads
Description
This skill set addresses the skills and knowledge required for those responsible for traffic control on Temporary Traffic Management Category 2 environments as described in the Austroads Guide to Temporary Traffic Management.
Pathways information
The unit provides credit towards a number of Certificate II and Certificate III qualifications in the RII Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package and other training packages, such as RII30920 Certificate III in Civil Construction or equivalent.
Entry requirement
This skill set may only be undertaken in addition to:
-
completion of the RIISS00058 Traffic Controller Skill Set for Urban Streets and Low Volume Rural Roads; and
-
at least 40 hours of experience working in a temporary traffic management workplace in a traffic controller role
Acceptable Documents: Payslips, job dockets, work dockets, and/or a formal letter of reference from your employer.
Licensing / regulatory information
This skill set has been created to align to the requirements of individuals responsible for traffic control in temporary traffic management, as described in the Austroads Guide to Temporary Traffic Management Category 2 environments. Licensing, legislative and certification requirements that apply to this skill set can vary between states, territories and industry sectors. Users must check requirements with relevant body before applying the skill set.
Skill set requirements
Successful completion of the following unit of competency inclusive of at least 20 hours practical experience applying the relevant skills and knowledge in a temporary traffic management workplace:

RIIWHS207 Control traffic on high volume roads.
The assessment for the units of competency comprises both theoretical and practical components. The practical assessment component is to be undertaken after the practical experience is gained. Practical experience requirements must be completed on declared Temporary Traffic Management Category 2 roads within at least six months of successfully completing the theoretical component.
Target group
This skill set is for individuals responsible for traffic control in temporary traffic management on Temporary Traffic Management Category 2 roads.

TMI2 RIISS00061 - Traffic Management Implementer Skill Set for High Volume Roads
Covers the following units of competency

This skill set addresses the skills and knowledge required for those responsible for traffic management implementation on Temporary Traffic Management Category 2 environments as described in the Austroads Guide to Temporary Traffic Management.

completion of the RIISS00060 Traffic Management Implementer Skill Set for Urban Streets and Low Volume Rural Roads; and
-
at least one month experience applying skills and knowledge relevant to the above-mentioned skill set in a temporary traffic management workplace; and
-
providing evidence of relevant experience setting up at least 12 temporary traffic management types including high speed roads or high-volume roads, and at least two of the following types:
-
pedestrian and cyclist controls
-
construction sites
-
lane closures
-
shoulder closures
-
night works
-
use of portable traffic control devices
-
motorways or freeways.

Acceptable Documents: MUST show 12 completed TMI setups using: traffic worksheets, timesheets, or payslips covering a minimum one-month period. In addition please supply Approved Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGS) paired with corresponding job dockets and pre-start records verifying you were on that site.

Additional Entry Requirements

Recognition of Prior Learning [RPL]
[We are not currently processing any RPL applications remotely and all bookings will need to be done face-to-face]
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) involves an assessment of your knowledge and experience of your previous and current skills, and compares them to the requirements of an Austroads Temporary Traffic Management
Training program (skill set). If you can demonstrate that you have already gained the equivalent skills and knowledge, and that skill and knowledge is current, then you may be granted recognition of prior learning for an
Austroads Temporary Traffic Management Training program (skill set).
The evidence you provide may include knowledge, experience and skills gained through part-time, full-time or casual work. There is also a local VIC theory component that needs to be completed to be eligible for the RPL.
